The Book

Binding books is a classic craft since Roman times when the present book form, codex, arose. Since the centuries, this work has primarily been carried out in the church's fame. The book was a way of gathering and preserving the knowledge that existed at times when literacy was not widely spread outside the church domains.

This is the foundation of our business, although actual bookbinding is now days a smaller part of our production. We are proud that we still have the ability to make a real book of high quality.

A book consists of a cover binder and a book block, which is more often called the insert.

The cover binder is made of cardboard and exclusively dressed with cloth.

The book block is made up of a number of folded print sheets that are tied together, cleaned and made ready to be hung in the cover binder.
